Consulting for Inclusive Conventions Volunteer

Overview

Do you want to help make fandom spaces safer and more welcoming? As a Consulting for Inclusive Conventions Volunteer, you’ll assist Super Heroines, Etc. staff in providing guidance to conventions, fan events, libraries, museums, and nonprofits.

Volunteers help research best practices, develop resources, and support planning for accessibility, anti-harassment policies, and inclusive programming. Your work ensures organizers can create events that reflect equity, inclusion, and community values.

• REQUIREMENTS

  TIME COMMITMENT

  2–6 hours per month (varies by consulting projects and deadlines)

  Virtual

  PREREQUISITES

  Must complete our volunteer training module prior to running their first session with nerdy people or organizations.

  • Interest in equity, inclusion, accessibility, and safe fandom spaces

  • Strong organizational, research, and communication skills

  • Comfortable collaborating with staff, event organizers, and other volunteers

  • Commitment to creating inclusive, welcoming, and professional environments

  • Experience with event planning, policy review, or accessibility consulting helpful but not required

• RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and suggest best practices for inclusive events and conventions

  • Assist staff in creating guides, resources, and recommendations for organizers

  • Support planning and coordination for consultations, workshops, or training sessions

  • Communicate with event organizers under staff supervision, when appropriate

  • Track projects, timelines, and deliverables

  • Participate in planning meetings and strategy sessions
