Family-Friendly Programming Planning Volunteer
Overview
Do you love organizing playful, inclusive experiences for kids and families? As a Family-Friendly Programming Planning Volunteer, you’ll help design, coordinate, and manage activities that spark imagination, foster connection, and introduce young players to the joys of tabletop gaming.
This behind-the-scenes role is perfect for volunteers who enjoy planning events, creating content, and ensuring safe, fun, and engaging experiences for children and caregivers—both in community spaces and at conventions.

TIME COMMITMENT
3–6 hours per month (more during event prep and conventions)

Virtual
PREREQUISITES
Must complete our volunteer training module prior to running their first session with nerdy people or organizations.
Interest in youth engagement, family programming, or community events
Strong organizational and communication skills
Comfortable coordinating with staff, volunteers, and facilitators
Commitment to creating inclusive, safe, and welcoming spaces
Background check required
Abuse Prevention Training provided by SHE required
Experience with event planning, workshops, or tabletop games helpful but not required

Assist in planning family-friendly programming, from beginner RPGs to cooperative games
Coordinate logistics for community events and conventions
Help design games, activities, and storytelling experiences suitable for children ages 0–12
Support facilitators and volunteers with setup, materials, and session management
Ensure activities are safe, inclusive, and engaging for all participants
Participate in pre-event planning meetings and follow-ups

Gain experience in youth and family programming, event planning, and facilitation
Collaborate with staff and volunteers on engaging, playful experiences
Connect with families, caregivers, and community members
Receive recognition as a Super Heroines, Etc. volunteer
