Youth Advisory Board Support Volunteer

Overview

Help guide the next generation of youth leaders! As a Youth Advisory Board Support Volunteer, you assist staff in facilitating meetings, coordinating activities, and creating a welcoming, safe space for middle school, high school, and college-aged board members. Your support ensures that youth voices are heard and that the board runs smoothly, empowering young leaders to shape Super Heroines, Etc. programs.

 
  • TIME COMMITMENT

    2–4 hours per month (varies by meeting schedule and events)

    LOCATION

    Virtual or in-person

    PREREQUISITES

    Must complete our volunteer training module prior to running their first session with nerdy people or organizations.

    • Interest in youth leadership, mentorship, and community engagement

    • Encouraging, supportive communication style

    • Commitment to creating inclusive and safe spaces

    • Experience with facilitating meetings, logistics, or event support helpful but not required

    • Background check required

    • Abuse Prevention Training provided by SHE required

    • Assist staff in facilitating board meetings and activities

    • Support youth members in participating fully and confidently

    • Help manage logistics (scheduling, materials, online platforms)

    • Encourage respectful collaboration and inclusion

    • Take notes, track action items, and assist with follow-ups

    • Model positive, supportive, and professional behavior

    • Gain experience supporting youth leadership and advisory boards

    • Develop facilitation, mentorship, and organizational skills

    • Connect with youth leaders and SHE staff

    • Receive recognition as a Super Heroines, Etc. volunteer
